Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Craniosacral Therapy?

The subtle, slow nature of CST has the ability to relax and decompress the nervous system, while simultaneously treating specific issues.

Our bodies are brilliant instruments that have the remarkable ability to heal themselves. Yet, we live in a fast paced world that stresses our nervous system, and which inevitably leads to many ailments. Continuously moving at such break-neck speeds prohibits our natural healing mechanisms from engaging and healing the body as they are capable of. It is important to allow our systems the opportunity to slow down, rest, and release some of that speed. We can only override our bodies for so long until they stop us. Without carving out that time for rest and relaxation, our immune system becomes impacted and can cause illness.

CST allows the body to fully rest and deepen into a relaxed state. Through a deepened sense of calm, the body's natural healing mechanism are able to function as they've been designed to. This leads to a sense of peacefulness, which allows for the body to manage and balance everyday life.

CST treats a number of ailments, including (but not limited to):

What does a session look like?

During the initial consultation, Sherry will take a full history of you and answer any questions that you have. This usually lasts for 30 minutes. From this initial assessment a Craniosacral Therapy (CST) treatment will follow, with the client lying fully dressed on the treatment table. Blankets, pillows, and heat are used to ensure maximum comfort. With hand placements at the bottom of the feet, a second assessment is made on the nature and form of the healing. Using the different approaches to CST, the practitioner then uses subtle hand placements listening to the guidance of the client's body. The treatment session is gentle and will last up to one hour.

What can I expect afterwards?

Often after a session, the client feels fully relaxed and rested. During the nights that follow, deep sleeps are often experienced. A relief of the initial symptoms may be immediately felt, or, there may be a return of symptoms for 12-24 hours prior to experiencing the relief. CST continues working for 5-7 days after a session.

How many sessions will I need?

This greatly depends on the issue. In acute situations you may only need one or two treatments.
With chronic situations it may take more treatments. The body took a long time getting to that chronic place, so it will require more time to re-pattern itself into health. The longer a condition has been present, the longer it may take to unravel and relieve it.

"Right from my first appointment I was thoroughly impressed with Sherry's abilities. The combination of traditional massage and craniosacral therapy is pretty powerful. I can feel the benefits instantly, but also for days after each appointment. Sherry is a true healer."
